Fun, safe holiday cheer is still on the way, says Kelowna’s upcoming Christmas parade.

Despite new lockdown orders, the organizers behind the Santa Parade say that they’ve prepared for the worst possible scenario and will still be going ahead with the event.

They have also finalized the parade routes, which will take them through Rutland’s Candy Cane Lane on Dec. 19, 2020.

The Central Kelowna and Glenmore parade, as shown below, will begin at 4 pm. The Rutland route will begin at 6 pm.

Many of the streets chosen allow spectators to safely watch from their car if they park on the side of the road.

Candace Banks, one of the organizers of the event, note that they are encouraging people not to gather in groups, and to space out when watching the parade.

The group of organizers also brought a COVID-19 friendly Halloween parade to Kelowna in place of the annual Grenfell Road Haunted House.

“Please remember this is a hard time for everyone so let's go forward today with a bit more cheer in our hearts. Stay positive Kelowna!,” they said in a statement.
