Rutland is getting into the Christmas spirit this weekend.

The community’s annual Christmas Light Up is scheduled for Sunday and the festivities begin inside Plaza 33 at 1 pm.

There will be crafting, letters to Santa, face painting and a Crafters Market for anyone looking to get a bit of Christmas shopping done.

At 3 pm, Santa will be reading a story at the Rutland Library, which will precede the main event at Roxby Square, which starts at 3:30 pm.

There will be a scrimmage with the Kelowna Chiefs, outdoor games, hot chocolate and other treats, chili, carolling, more fun with Santa and, finally, the moment everyone is waiting for.

The tree will light up the night at 5 pm, bringing all sorts of holiday cheer to the heart of Rutland.

As always, the light up will be a fantastic, family-friendly community event, so make sure you’re there on Sunday!
