Kelowna Made will be returning for its second year on Aug. 26.

The downtown Kelowna event is an all-ages community celebration that features a variety of activities, live music and tasty food.

The festival will primarily take place in City Park, where it was exclusively held in 2022, but Kelowna Made will expand to include activities in Kerry Park and Stuart Park this time around.

“The volunteers on the host committee are excited to be able to bring Kelowna Made back for year two and to put some smiles on their neighbours’ faces this August,” said Sarah Semeniuk, the event services cooordinator with the City.

“There really will be a little something for everyone.”

Some of the activities include a Kelowna Made Belly Flop Championship, which was a smash hit in 2022, a family sandcastle-building competition hosted by BGC Okanagan, Indigenous programming, and the annual Kelowna Crows Ensign Cup charity rugby match.

There will also be artistic workshops and cultural performances, and Ballet Kelowna will have a special evening performance by the lake.

In addition, AesthetiKs LAB will be hosting a fashion show. Designer applications close on June 1.

Despite less-than-ideal weather, thousands of people took part in the first-ever Kelowna Made event on Aug. 26, 2022.

With a volunteer committee leading the way, the event emerged from the City’s Event Strategy and its Get Eventive Days, which involved public engagement, local activations and surveys.

In celebration of this year's launch, a limited selection of orange Kelowna Made 2023 bucket hats are available at the Parkinson Recreation Centre for $30.

Volunteer opportunities are available on the day of and in the lead-up with flexible shifts.
