The City of Kelowna is advising residents of several trail closures happening on Knox Mountain this week.

This marks the start of surveying work that will be carried out this fall.

A news release from the city says this is for the design of future water transmission mains and water infrastructure upgrades to meet the demand between the Knox Mountain Reservoir, Dilworth Reservoir and reservoir storage to the north.

Surveying will be happening Monday until Thursday on the southwest slope of the mountain, which means service roads and trails below the first lookout will be closed.

The closures will allow for equipment access and safety reasons.

“People can continue to use the Apex trail and Knox Mountain Road to access the First Lookout,” notes the city.

“There may be temporary disruptions to the disc golf course on Poplar Point Drive and players are asked to be aware of their surroundings.”

Other parts of Knox Mountain Park will stay open as the surveying is carried out, however.
