A very popular semi-annual event is returning to the Okanagan College parking lot next weekend.

The RDCO’s trunk sale will see people from all over the Central Okanagan gathering to buy and sell pre-loved items.

“This is basically one huge community style garage sale, one convenient location, no excessive driving around from sale to sale to hunt down that great bargain,” said Rae Stewart, waste reduction facilitator.

“Our trunk sales promote the culture of repurposing, breathing new life into gently used personal or household items by making them easily available to others.”

An added bonus, says Stewart, is that it keeps more out of the landfill.

The past few trunk sales have had 150 vendors, but those spots always fill up quickly, so the RDCO has increased that number.

“We’ve added an additional 25 stalls for vendors to participate, so a total of 175 spots in parking lot 17 of Okanagan College,” Stewart explained.

“Given we are always maxed out with sellers, we hope this gets more people into the event that wish to participate.”

You must be pre-registered to sell items and despite the extra space, those spots should still fill up quickly so don’t wait too long to sign up.

There’s no need to pre-register and there’s no limit on buyers, so if you’re looking to score some deals make sure you come down to check the trunk sale out.

Once the sale ends, a number of charities will be on site for sellers to donate any unsold and unwanted items.

The sale runs from 8 am until noon on Saturday, Sept. 21, rain or shine!
