A beloved name in Kelowna radio has come back from the dead.

Pattison Media today relaunched CKLZ FM as 104-7 The Lizard.

The name was last used in the 1980s and 1990s, Pattison Media said, having been launched in 1964 as Kelowna’s first FM radio station.

“The Lizard will continue to play the classic and current rock now heard on the frequency and is now branded The Rock of Kelowna,” Pattison Media explained.

Pattison Media added that the “heritage rock station” has been “part of the fabric of the Okanagan for decades.”

The media firm praised the station’s commitment to rock and its “very large and very loyal audience.”
