This year is a special anniversary for the Salvation Army’s annual Fill-the-Van-for-Sally-Ann Food Drive.

It’s the 20th year that the Central Okanagan has come together to support The Salvation Army with food and cash donations.

It happens on Saturday, Dec. 7 from 9 am until 5 pm.

This year, there will be vans at all five Save-On Foods locations throughout Kelowna and West Kelowna, which will be stuffed with food by the end of the day.

“The Salvation Army food banks in Kelowna and West Kelowna rely on the support of our community,” says Capt. Darryl Burry, executive director of The Kelowna Salvation Army.

“The donations received on this day will assist individuals and families in need long after the Christmas season.”

Donations of food items like cereal, tuna, peanut butter, school snacks, soup, crackers, pasta and pasta sauce will be highly sought after.

So if you’re heading into a Central Okanagan Save-On Foods on Saturday, grab a couple of extra non-perishable items and help stuff the van on your way out of the store.
