Have you ever played Euchre?
If so, you may want to consider entering the Kelowna Euchre Tournament that is taking place at the German Canadian Harmonie Club from 2-8 pm on Saturday.
“This highly-anticipated event will bring together Euchre players of all levels, from seasoned veterans to newcomers looking to test their skills,” explains a press release from JCI Kelowna, host of the tournament.
Euchre is a popular trick-taking card game that is played in pairs, which is believed to have originated in the United States in the early 19th century.
It quickly spread across the border into Ontario, where it has become a staple in Ontarian life, especially at cottages, university break rooms and family gatherings.
JCI Kelowna promises a “great day of fun and competition” on Saturday, with each team guaranteed five games.
There will be prizes for the first-, second- and third-place teams.
The entry fee is $33.28 for a pair and $22.63 for a single if you want to enter alone and get partnered up with another player.
Drinks and a barbecue dinner will be served on site for an additional cost.
All proceeds from the event will go to JCI Kelowna to support their work in Kelowna.
