Friday morning should have been an exciting day for local tattoo artist Miss Kitty aka Krista Bent.

But on the morning of her 23rd birthday, Kitty awoke to discover the brand new tattoo studio recently completed in her home had been robbed.

“My fiance noticed activity on our security camera at a time of night when there shouldn’t have been such notifications and he frantically ran out the door,” said Kitty.

“He discovered a muddy boot print on the door, drawers and cupboards open, debris and containers everywhere, there had clearly been a burglary.”

According to the artist and her fiancé, the break-in occurred just before 4 a.m. near the Lindahl Street community gardens.

The robbery happened just days after the shop had officially opened following months of hard work as well as thousands of dollars in loans and investments.

Eight separate tattoo machines were snagged, with each machine consisting of an ink gun and power supply that cost roughly $500 and $350 each.

The thief also made off with over $1000 in tattoo ink and several original art pieces that Kitty called priceless.

The couple has filed a police report and set up a GoFundMe with the hopes of recovering some funds to get the shop up and running again.
