Thieves steal cars after taking keys from Kelowna gyms

Police are searching for a pair of suspects that they believe are responsible from a string of vehicle thefts from Kelowna gyms.

The first call came in at 7:30 a.m. on Tuesday, when the RCMP received report of belongings, including car keys, being stolen from a locker in the woman’s change room at Goodlife Fitness on Gordon Drive.
 

The victim’s Ford SUV was missing from the parking lot.

Shortly before 9 a.m., RCMP received a second report that personal belongings, including car keys, were missing from an unlocked locker at Steve Nash Fitness on Cooper Road.
 

The woman’s four door hatchback, as well as her wallet and bank cards, were taken from the parking lot and the cards were later used fraudulently at several nearby businesses.

Then, after 1 p.m., police got a third report that keys to a Hyundai SUV, as well as credit cards and personal identification, were taken from a locker inside of the Mission Fitness on Gordon Drive.
 

Finally, a fourth similar theft was reported to RCMP at 5:40 p.m. by a vehicle owner outside the YMCA on Hartman Road.

A woman discovered her gym bag missing and alerted her boyfriend, who ran to their vehicle in the parking lot and verbally confronted a suspicious woman.
 

The woman was described to police as black and in her 20s with curly black hair dyed red, wearing tight jeans and white sneakers.

She promptly departed from the area with a second woman, who was described as Caucasian, wearing a baggy t-shirt and a toque.

The pair departed in a tan coloured SUV.

Police are seeking the public’s assistance in locating the stolen vehicles from Tuesday, which are:
