The third annual Kelowna Rain Walk – organized by InspireHealth to raise cash for cancer care – is just over three weeks away.

InspireHealth has provided programs for people living with cancer and their families since 1997.

Last year, 130 people joined the walk in Kelowna and raised close to $19,000.

Organizers are expecting a much larger turnout this year and have set a goal of raising $20,000 and having 200 participants.

The Kelowna walk will be held on Sunday, March 3 at the Parkinson Recreation Centre.

Registration opens at 9 a.m. and, after a prize giveaway and guest speakers, a five kilometre walk commences.

There will also be two other walks in Victoria and Vancouver.

It is hoped the funds raised will help sustain InspireHealth’s cancer rehabilitation services.

The charity offers exercise therapy, stress management, nutrition advice and counselling.

They support more than 3,500 Canadians every year through their three B.C. centres and online services.

“The money raised will go directly to support those living with cancers who participate in our services and programs at InspireHealth Supportive Cancer Care,” Alicia Keim, a clinical exercise therapist at InspireHealth, said.

“We offer a once-a-month signature Life Program to help those with a cancer diagnosis and their families navigate the overwhelming thoughts, feelings and emotions that come along with the initial heartbreaking news of a cancer diagnosis.”
