Get those skates sharpened, because a popular holiday tradition has returned to downtown Kelowna!

Crews have been working hard to transform Stuart Park into an outdoor rink for Central Okanagan residents to enjoy through the holiday season and beyond.

The rink will open to the public at 10 am on Thursday and will be open daily until late February.

“With the return of winter weather comes another season of fun at Stuart Park,” said Steve Fagan from the City of Kelowna. "We look forward to welcoming our community back to the rink in the coming weeks.”

After opening day, the rink will be open to the public from 6 am until 11 pm every day, although it closes on Monday’s between 6-8 am for maintenance.

Skate rentals will be available daily from 11 am until 8 pm, with the exception of Christmas Day.

“Visitors are reminded that equipment rentals are cash only, and weather permitting,” the City noted.

Once again, a live webcam will be set up on the City website so residents can check out the ice conditions before heading to the rink.

Everyone who uses the rink is asked to abide by the regulations posted on surrounding signs and helmet use is encouraged.
