This past weekend a local pet daycare had the puppy kissing booth that they use for charity event stolen, but the kindness of strangers has mended the situation and triggered a chain of good deeds.
After two employees at The Village at Mill Creek retrieved the stolen kissing booth after finding it abandoned in their parking lot, they were given the promised reward and it will be going to good use.
The booth is a popular attraction that their volunteers use to raise funds for Pacific Assistance Dog Society (PADS). Luckily, the booth, which was handmade, was found.
Conny Reimer, an employee at the villa who spotted the booth and helped them get it back, said that they were all very happy to see it returned to its rightful owner.
“They were very happy. They realized that making another one wouldn’t cost a lot but it’s just the sentimental value that’s there in the community,” Reimer said.
Reimer has split the $200 reward with her co-worker Matthias Hamm, who also had a hand in returning the stolen property. She plans to donate her half to the CIBC Run for the Cure.
“This whole event just keeps spreading the love,” says Dave Prenoslo with PADS.
Reimer told NowMedia that she decided to donate to the run because this will be her first year doing it. Her Grandfather passed away this year of cancer, so she chose to participate.
The seniors at the villa also benefited from the situation, as PADS brought in two of their dogs for a visit when presenting her with the reward.
“The seniors loved it, we all did. We don’t get dogs in often. Sometimes the families bring them in but not like that where they go around and they can pet them and cuddle with them,” says Reimer.
Reimer and Prenoslo say that thanks to the whole ordeal, the seniors will be able to enjoy the dog’s companionship again soon.
PADS has agreed to volunteer at the villa again and bring the dogs in to socialize with the residents as a result of the kissing booth being recovered.
“We had a good first visit and we’re looking forward to going back again soon,” said Prenoslo. “The smiles on those faces when they saw the dogs were priceless!”
