This week the BC Vaccine Card came into place which will require people to show proof of at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, in order to enter a number of facilities.

In the first 24 hours since implementation, The Tasting Room at BNA has not yet seen any issues when asking for people to show their vaccination status.

“When I did have to tell them no you can’t sit down, they either grabbed take away or gave me a wave and left, so it's been good but it won’t be everyday,” said Kassidy Cote, General Manager at the BNA Tasting Room.

Visual checks of the BC Vaccine Card with a piece of photo identification are being conducted in businesses needing the card, or people who have downloaded the personalized QR code are getting a quick scan from the provincial app.

Residents in BC who have received their first or second dose of the COVID-19 vaccine have been able to register for their vaccine card since Sept.7.

The BC Vaccine Card is needed for the following:

Earlier this week Minister of Health Adrian Dix, said that over two million people have already accessed their BC Vaccine Card, by either registering for their personalized QR code or by calling to get the card directly mailed to them.

People from out of province are also required to show proof of vaccination with a valid piece of government ID.

“It seemed like a lot of people were unaware, especially people from out of the province. I had a lot of Alberta who had a lot of long paper work, and Ontario which had a lot of stuff on their phones, which was confusing but people were really lovely,” said Cote.

Individuals will need to be fully vaccinated by Oct. 24 if they want to continue to access businesses that require the vaccine card.
