Kelowna residents are eagerly awaiting the opening of a brand new waterfront spot to enjoy craft beer, pizzas and more.

King Taps, a Toronto-based restaurant will be opening up its second location right in the heart of downtown Kelowna very soon.

While many community members may remember the location to be the home of the iconic Rose’s Waterfront Pub, the inside won’t look familiar as the space has received a major facelift.

With over a year of work going into revamping the location, residents can rest assured that King Taps is prepared to fill some major shoes.

“People want to have something that’s going to add value to the community, and that’s something we’re really excited to do,” explains Regional Manager, Thomas Beetlestone.

The restaurant will be able to hold over 488 diners spread over two floors and two patios, and no need to wait on food as the kitchen is prepared to hire over 80 staff to keep up with guest capacity.

Regional Chef, James Bunting explained that their recently installed forno ovens imported from Italy are estimated to cook just over 300 pizzas each hour.

“We’re very excited about all the items we’ve worked very hard on from our pizzas to our entrees, to our crave-able burgers, our salads, our bowls, we even have sushi,” said Bunting.

While King Taps is a creation under Cactus Club, they don’t plan on mirroring its sister restaurant just around the corner.

“They're two distinctly different brands and concepts, and that's something we think that compliments each other really well,” Beetlestone told KelownaNow.

King Taps will also focus on locally sourced beverages as a number of Kelowna breweries and wineries are set to make an appearance on the menu.

Although as far as booze goes, King Taps hasn’t been approved for a liquor licence which could potentially further delay the opening of this funky bar.

With no opening date set in stone, the regional staff at King Taps explained they’re eager to open very soon. Until then, keep on dreaming of summer nights spent on Kelowna's newest patio.
