There are those who like to play hockey just for the fun of it.
And there are those who like to get out and golf.
The two pursuits have been brought together in an event with all of the benefits going to the food bank.
It's the CSN Collision Centres' second annual 'Average Players Who Give a Puck Tourney'.
Organizers are looking for 42 average players in a one-of-a-kind Golf and Hockey Tournament to support the Central Okanagan Food Bank in its mission to create a healthy, hunger-free community.
"We're going to do the impossible," boasted spokesperson Rick Maddison, "which is play golf and hockey, same day."
Let that sink in.
"They're going to hit balls, and then hit pucks. Same day!"
Maddison said it proved possible in 2019, so he has confidence it can happen again.
"I said to them, 'are you sure?' and a lot of them said 'no'," he recalled. "But they're still going to go ahead and do this anyway."
The beneficiaries are the thousands of individuals in Kelowna and West Kelowna who are currently suffering from food insecurity.
"We just want people to sign up," said Maddison.
The entry fee is $200 with a tax receipt provided.
Draft night is April 27th with appies and refreshments at Freddy's Brewpub.
The event tees off April 29th at Shannon Lake Golf Course bright and early at 7:00 am.
The puck drops on the hockey element starting at noon at the West Kelowna Hockey Centre, with the crowning of a champion later at a private residence.
