A couple from Ontario hit a milestone on Valentine’s Day, as they got engaged up at beautiful snowy Big White. But it wasn’t the typical Hallmark moment you’d expect.

Ryan Tremblay and his girlfriend Desiree Paiha were riding the Bullet Chair up the mountain when amidst a flurry of snow, he pulled out a ring and asked: “Are you ready to do this?”

After convincing her the big moment was actually happening, Tremblay went to pass over the ring before “accidentally” tossing it over the back of the lift.

Don’t worry though, it was all part of his plan to prank his unsuspecting fiance-to-be.

“My heart dropped when he dropped the ring,” Paiha told NowMedia. “My first reaction was to lift the safety bar, luckily he stopped me from doing it.”

It wasn’t until she started to tear up that Tremblay explained it was all a joke and that the real ring was in his pocket waiting to be put on her finger when they reached the top.

“He is a huge prankster, so I was definitely not surprised [by that part] — we had a good laugh after my extreme panic,” added Paiha.

It didn’t take long before the hilarious and adorable story spread through social media and reached the team at Big White who shared the romantic tale with their Okanagan audience.

Congratulations to the happy couple!
