One of Kelowna’s most popular fall attractions is opening its doors once again this weekend!
McMillan Farms is opening up Sept. 25 and will be running right up until Halloween, which means it’s time to gather up your friends and family and get into the spooky spirit.
This ain’t your average pumpkin patch, they have a massive corn maze to get lost in, a gourd slingshot, hayride tours of the 110 acre farm, and plenty of fall photo opportunities.
“We do 30+ different varieties of pumpkins now, as you wander around you we have all kinds of colours and shapes of pumpkins,” said Ron McMillan, owner of McMillan Farms.
“A lot of them are not just orange, there's lots of white, yellow, red, blueish-green, pink, and tan ones this year. Pumpkins are pretty fun because you get a lot of variety.”
The farm is expected to pick about 15,000 pumpkins by the end of the season, and right now there's a few thousand to choose from!
This year will look similar to last as they continue to limit capacity due to COVID-19. People are encouraged to buy their tickets online and book ahead, as walk-ins will only be available if the farm hasn’t reached capacity.
Many people have asked if the farm will be checking for the BC Vaccine Card, but because this event is outdoors vaccination status is not needed.
“We’ve done everything we can as far as COVID-19 rules go, so there’s lots of sanitation stations out here, we just ask everybody to follow the safe distance rules, and have fun while you’re here,” said McMillan.
