West Kelowna now has its second craft brewery, and this one is in Lakeview Heights.

Lakesider is open for your sipping pleasure.

"We built Lakesider to try to capture the quintessential Okanagan experience in our tasting room," said owner Kieran Armour.

"We wanted to bring fresh craft beer to the west side and join our partners at Kind Brewing in bringing craft beer to the masses."

Lakesider is in the newly rebuilt Lakeview Village. The rock exterior is wrapped around an airy tasting room that evokes the feel of a breezy lakehouse.

"We felt really enamoured with the Lakeview Heights area, being just off the wine trail and having the beauty of the lakeside views and we really wanted to capture that in our brewery experience."

The location comes with a generous patio, which is particularly helpful given our current circumstances and fits with the style of beers Lakesider likes to brew.

"Our brewing philosophy is a little bit lighter style of beers," said Armour.

"Good for sunny patio weather, mostly lighter on the hops although we do have a really nice IPA and we're just kegging a Neipa today."

Armour's wife Gale is an accountant and his background is at Telus, but they've put it on hold to follow their passion.

"I've been drinking craft beer since I was old enough to drink beer," he said.

The menu is casual, featuring Neopolitan thin-crust pizza and an impressive selection of street tacos dominating.

Nothing is deep-fried and the food is prepared on-site.

"Everything we do is as authentic as we can get," said Armour, "and also locally sourced wherever possible."

The relaxed atmosphere of your newest craft brewery option is open from noon to 9 pm daily.
