Erica Jane is open and tomorrow (Wednesday) it's official.

The dream of the late, great restauranteur Reg Henry, Erica Jane is the newest addition to Kelowna's vibrant food scene.

You'll find it on Sunset Drive with nothing but a wall of glass separating guests from the bustle of the downtown waterfront.

"It's a great showcase of what the Okanagan has to offer," said Chef Chris Braun. "The Mecca of producers is important to us, for sure."

There's an elegance about the 100-seat dining room, but don't say 'fine dining'.

"We want to be very approachable," said Braun, "fun and casual, but uplifted with that sense of elegance.

The menu is full of steakhouse and seafood offerings, paired with local seasonal greens.

It's designed so you don't have to break the bank, but if you insist, there is a seafood tower that's over the top.

"We want it to be a place where you can call yourself a regular," explained Braun. "But we also wanted to offer something that you can go to and kind of indulge."

Some of the other enticing options include fresh truffles, caviar and beef tartare.

It all comes to you from the same family that brought us Kelly O'Bryans.

There is a bittersweet backstory behind Erica Jane.

It's a visionary tribute that Reg Henry didn't live to see come to fruition.

But his family made sure of that, and the result is something extraordinary.
