Two days and hundreds of vaccines and so far there have been no serious problems for seniors at the mass vaccination clinic at Kelowna's Trinity Church.
"Have faith," said Carol Vanvorst who was in for her shot Tuesday morning. "It's going to work."
John Blanchard said it feels great to be vaccinated, brushing off the sensation of the needle itself. "No, just kind of like a mosquito bite," he said.
Still, some arrive with some fears about getting immunized.
"I was kind of concerned about it," admitted John Zylla who was in to get vaccinated after being hospitalized with the virus a few months ago.
"There's been a little bit," said Deborah Preston when asked about that reluctance. She speaks for Interior Health at the clinic. "It's just such a welcoming atmosphere. It's completely putting people at ease."
After receiving the vaccine people are asked to spend 15 minutes so they can be monitored, but Preston said there have been no major adverse reactions so far.
"A bit of soreness like we do with flu shot and things like that," she said. "But I'm not hearing of any major events."
Each day, the minimum age for the clinics gets a year younger.
"I believe we're at 83 today," said Preston. "By Friday we'll be at 80. So anyone 80 and older will be able to book an appointment by Friday."
People are urged to bring their care card when they come and it's suggested that people wear short sleeves.
