For the second time in a month, the bathrooms at the Rutland Sports Fields have been targeted by vandals.

A City of Kelowna official contacted the RCMP shortly before 10 a.m. on Monday to report the damage.

The washroom was just recently repaired after being destroyed by vandals in late May.

This time there isn’t nearly as much damage, but one of the newly repaired urinals was destroyed by the perpetrators.

Police believe the destruction was carried out sometime overnight, either late on Sunday or early on Monday.

“This intentional act of destruction appears senseless," said Cpl. Tania Carroll. “Our investigators are unable to determine what would motivate anyone to commit such a crime."

Anyone with information regarding this crime is asked to contact the Kelowna RCMP at 250-762-3300 and cite police file number 2018-35668.

You can also report tips anonymously to Crime Stoppers at 1-800-222-8477.
