(UPDATE: Sept. 10 @ 9:15 a.m.) - The cause of the fire that started in the Rutland area is still unknown.
Platoon Captain Kelly Stephens says that RCMP are investigating the incident, but it isn't being considered suspicious at this time.
When crews arrived at the scene this morning, Stephens says that the flames were about 20 feet high. The address of the building is 2789 Highway 97.
There were 42 personnel on scene with five engines, two ladder trucks a rescue unit, a command unit and safety unit. EHS, RCMP, and Fortis all were on scene.
The entire structure sustained major damage but crews managed to keep fire from all exposed buildings.
City suction trucks were brought to the scene to reduce water damage to neighbouring business.
Fire Investigators from Kelowna Fire and RCMP are on scene to find cause.
Officials say that the building will have to be torn down.
Fire crews will remain at the scene, throughout the day, to extinguish hot spots with a excavator that will help move debris to get to the deep seated smoldering fires.
(UPDATE: Sept. 10 @ 8:34 a.m.) - A fire that started in an industrial area of Rutland early this morning has been put out.
A reporter on the scene say that the fire department is getting ready to leave the scene now.
A KelownaNow reader says that she could hear explosions from the fire this morning as early as 5:30 a.m.

A fire has broken out in Kelowna early this morning.
The fire appears to be coming from McCurdy Road in Rutland.

A KelownaNow reader said she could see open flames this morning from her home on Keithley Road.
Another reader says that she could hear explosions from the fire this morning as early as 5:30 a.m.
