Water main break in Kelowna results in flooding of street and properties

A large watermain break occurred on private property at about 5:40 p.m. this evening near the corner of Leathead and Fleming Roads.

A significant volume of water flooded onto Leathead Road, Fleming Road and Hein Road.

The area is within the Black Mountain Irrigation District (BMID) service area. BMID says they have staff are on-site and have isolated the leak and stopped the flow of water to the roads.

There is still a large volume of water on the street and there are reports of flooding onto private lands.

"If at all possible, please stay away from the area to allow repair works to take place and work crews to do their jobs," says BMID.
