Crews have begun work on a new development in the east part of Mission Creek Regional Park.
The work will be ongoing until June, as a number of improvements are made to the area of the park off Springfield Road near the Leckie Road parking lot.
The closure is so crews can add the following features to the popular park:
- Building new gravel surfaced trails
- Upgrading of existing trails and circular pathways
- Construction of four new wooden footbridges
- Building a new nature play log obstacle course
- Turf grass areas
- Accessible picnic tables and other park amenities
The majority of the Leckie Road parking lot will remain open during construction, with the exception of 10 stalls that will be closed for staging and storage.
While the park remains open to visitors, people are asked to stay out of the signed, closed area and be aware of heavy equipment during work hours.
