Kelowna International Airport recorded over two million passengers in 2019 – for the second year running.

But it saw a 1.3% decrease on 2018’s figures.

There were 2,032,144 passengers in 2019, a 26,886 decline on 2018.

YLW remains the 10th-most popular airport in the country, however.

In December, the airport announced the next phase of its capital investment program, Soaring Beyond 2.5 Million Passengers.

“Exceeding two million passengers again this year is an incredible accomplishment for YLW,” said Sam Samaddar, airport director.

“We need to consider the future growth of YLW and our plan to expand the airport starting in spring 2020 is just one way we are working to meet the needs of the region now, and many years into the future.”

As part of the development, YLW will complete the following projects:

The investment is expected to total about $293 over the next 10 years.
