A growing city means a growing airport and that’s exactly what Kelowna International Airport (YLW) has done with the construction of its new outbound baggage hall.

The 25-month project is complete and the new facilities officially opened on Thursday.

These much needed upgrades to the outbound baggage hall was by no means an easy process, as 100 companies were involved with its development.

The new baggage hall features 700 metres of conveyor belt running through 36,123 square feet of space.

Baggage twists and turns its way through various machines as it makes its way from the airport’s check in desks to the tarmac.

In one hour, the new system can process 900 bags, which is a 200% increase on the old outbound baggage hall.

With more travellers using YLW every single month, this major upgrade can only improve the travel experience and it’s ready just in time for the holidays.
