KelownaNow is teaming up with the Kelowna Farmer’s and Crafter’s Market to keep the city up to date on what they can expect from the market each month.

From seasonal produce and blooms to favourite vendors and events, this is where you will want to come to help plan your weekly market trips!

June is a busy month as it includes the first official day of summer, the market’s birthday and an abundance of fresh and beautiful goodies.

Produce-wise, you can expect to find all the market must-haves!

Strawberries are officially in season, kohlrabi is officially here and common favourites like tomatoes, carrots, radishes and even some garlic are still available.

June will have the market buzzing with great events!

Father’s Day will be a weekend long celebration with barbeque demos, live music and prize giveaways taking place at the Dilworth Market.

The Sunday Satellite Markets are also slated to return to St. Paul Street this Sunday, bringing with it some awesome giveaways and prizes for dad.

June 22 will mark the Market’s 24th birthday and to celebrate the staff welcomes one and all for sweet treats, music and activities all day long.

Market vendor of the month — Kali.co Plants!

Owned and operated by Kali Yanke, Kali.co Plants is an incredible booth to visit for all you budding plant parents.

With over 2,500 plants in stock, Yanke has something for everyone. Each of her plants are propagated and grown using a semi-hydroponic method and fed only the finest nutrients from her own, all-natural plant-care line.

Each plant comes housed in an adorable pot or macramé pot created in collaboration with local artists, making them a great gift for a friend, family member or yourself and an even better way to support local.

Also ramping up this month is the return of the Farmer’s Market Nutrition Program (FMNCP.)

The FMNCP is an initiative backed by farmers markets across the province, operating in 75 communities to support local farmers and strengthen a healthy local food system.

The program aims to aid over 4,000 lower income families and seniors in the purchase of fresh and local food.

For those of you interested in the program and to see what local partners you can get in touch with to become eligible to participate, click here.

Head to the corner of Springfield and Dilworth between 8:30 a.m. and 1 p.m. every Wednesday and Saturday to enjoy all that the Kelowna Farmer’s and Crafter’s Market has to offer.
