Here is Kaitie and Josh's love story!

My husband and I are high school sweethearts. We started dating when I was 17 and he was 18. We have spent ten incredible years together, married two years ago this May.

Our engagement story has one for the ages. Half of my family lives in Ontario with the St. Lawrence river boasting as their epic backyard and a beautiful bay that spans their front yards - ripe with fish and perfect for long, lazy summer days.

Three summers ago on our annual summer trip out, Josh proposed. The day was spent floating on the bay, barbecuing and drinking jack and coke for dinner followed by what I was told to be a bonfire down the road at my Aunts. Unbeknownst to me, Josh, with the help of my Mom who flew from Kelowna for the occasion, and my Aunt, had set up a beautiful engagement site.

I stayed behind after the barbeque at my Grandpa’s to help clean while the gang headed down the road for the “bonfire”. My mom, grandma and I followed shortly afterward. The evening sky was brightly lit by the August full super moon.

As I walked toward my Aunt’s property, I saw glowing white paper bags forming a path towards the dock, where several lit wooden lanterns framed the structure. The trees were twinkling with strings of lights, and there standing on the dock was my beautiful future husband.

I was overcome with emotion as I had been waiting so long for this moment. My mom sent me toward the dock, my legs doing all the work while my heart soared.

We shared a private moment, the answer was an exuberant “yes!” while 20 of my closest family members all watched from a distance.

Congratulations Kaitie and Josh!
