Playoff hockey returns to Kelowna for the first time since the pandemic, as the West Kelowna Warriors begin their quest for a BCHL Championship. If you are on the fence about heading out to a game, don’t fret as we have five reasons why you should attend a game this year!

1. The team is really, really good.

It always helps to have team that is fun, exciting and competitive. That is exactly what the Warriors are this year. They have finished the regular season on a tear, winning their last 10, which has set a franchise record for most consecutive victories.

They finished the regular season with 75 points, their best mark since the 2015-16 season where they won it all. Expect a lot of goals, because the Warriors have potted 231 on the year, the second most in the league, and have scored a whopping 57 in their last 10.

2. Tickets are affordable!

Playoff game tickets are available right now for $16. Children, students and seniors only need to pay $10. Click here to purchase. Also, if you are looking to score some free tickets, KelownaNow is doing a giveaway!

3. It’s a fierce rivalry.

The team West Kelowna will be playing is their rival, the Vernon Vipers. The Vipers have historically been one of the best in BC, winning 12 BCHL championships.

This season, the Warriors have bested the Vipers 4 times in 5 games, but expect a physical battle between these two.

4. Royal LePage Place is an underrated rink.

While it may not look like much from the outside, the RLP is the perfect spot to catch some hockey.

There isn't a bad seat in the building, as over 1,500 people have great sight lines of the action. Also, make sure to get to the rink early, as the pre-game introductions are set to a one-of-a-kind light show.

There is also local wine and beer available, including a decent selection of stadium-style food.

5. Parking is free!

If you are coming from downtown Kelowna, you may be relieved to find out that the parking at Warriors games are free. The parking lot is used for Mount Boucherie high school, as well as West Kelowna City Council, plus hikers around Boucherie Mountain, so there is no shortage of spots available.

Game one's puck drop is at 7:00pm on Friday, April 1. Game 2 goes same time on Saturday.
