Ben Brar had his way with the West Kelowna Warriors on Thursday night, leading the Prince George Spruce Kings to a 5-2 victory on home ice.

It was a special start to the game for three Prince George products, as Warriors coach Brandon West started Chase Dubois, Brandon Dent and Mason Richey on a line together.

All three played their midget hockey in Prince George with the Cariboo Cougars.

Once that nice moment ended, it was Brar who would open the scoring with the only goal of the opening period, making it 1-0 after one period.

Lucas Cullen tied it up at one in the second period, but Brar and Ben Poisson would both answer with goals for the Spruce Kings, giving Prince George a 3-1 lead through 40 minutes.

Jay Keranen would extend that lead to three with his first of the season, just over 10 minutes into the third, but Dubois responded within one minute for West Kelowna.

That’s as close as the Warriors would come, however, and Brar would add an empty netter with 100 seconds to play to secure the victory and his hat trick.

After a four-game road trip, the Warriors return home to host the Vernon Vipers on Saturday night.
