Jake Knapp is playing some great golf right now.

After winning the Canada Life Open in Vancouver at the end of the May, Knapp held on to win the GolfBC Championship at Gallagher’s Canyon in Kelowna by a single shot this weekend.

The California native entered the final round a single shot behind Lorens Chan in a tie for second with his best friend Jonathan Garrick.

Greyson Sigg shot up to the top of the leaderboard early in the day with a 59, just the second 59 in Mackenzie Tour history, but Knapp had an impressive round of his own.

He fired a seven-under-par 63 to win by one over Garrick, while Sigg’s historic round earned him a solo third finish.

“I couldn’t believe when I saw the leaderboard and my name wasn’t on top,” said Knapp, referring to Sigg’s round of 59.

“To shoot 4-under on the front you don’t really think you’re not going to be in first. I saw the score and I was like, ‘You’ve got to be kidding me.’”

The Father’s Day victory earned Knapp his second straight $36,000 paycheque and he now leads the tour’s money list with $72,000 in total earnings so far this year.
