Former West Kelowna Warriors forward Parm Dhaliwal dies aged 23

The West Kelowna Warriors announced that Parm Dhaliwal passed away over the weekend. He was just 23. 

Dhaliwal played three years for the Warriors, starting in 2016. 

A native of Surrey, Dhaliwal played his prep hockey with the Okanagan Hockey Academy and Yale Hockey Academy in Abbotsford.

After playing two games with the Chilliwack Chiefs in 2016, Dhaliwal was signed by the Warriors. 

In three seasons, he tallied 38 goals and 82 assists in 148 games played. He was a point a game player in 2018-19 as an assistant captain with 50 in 50 games.

Mike Hardman, a linemate of Dhaliwal in 2019, expressed shock of his passing on twitter.

Other tributes came pouring in.

Dhaliwal was slated to play in the 2019-20 season for his final year of BCHL hockey, but had several concussion issues in the years prior.

After skating in pre-season, the concussion symptoms increased and he was forced to retire from the game.

While the cause of death was unknown, a source told KelownaNow that Dhaliwal was found by cleaning staff in a Hyatt Grand Central Hotel in New York City over the weekend.
