The Kelowna Springboard Diving Club competed at their first meet of the year over the weekend, at the Candy Cane Dive Meet.

Ten local athletes participated, ranging from masters to novice categories.

The Candy Cane meet saw six dive clubs and 153 athletes from across the province compete at the event, which was a record.

Two Kelowna athletes nabbed podium spots. Yvonnne Davis took second in the 1/3 metre board, with an 88.50 jump in the 'Learn to Dive' Group F girls category.

Marshall Daniel, also in 'Learn to Dive,' took a silver in the 1/3 metre board with a 229.5 jump in the Group B boys category.

Other competitors in 'Learn to Dive' were Mara Hyland (fourth in Group D girls), Kenzie Tarasoff-Redekop (ninth in Group D girls) and Euan Garrison (sixth in Group C boys).

In the novice pre-competitive group, Simon Barr, Violet Lastavec, Gabrielle Burge and Presley Furby each dove from one and three-metre boards, garnering mostly top ten results.

Finally, in the masters 18+ event, Anna Ruckstuhl competed, conquering her fear of competing front one and a half and back dive tuck on the three-metre board.
