Kelowna’s Energy Volleyball Club took a top spot at the Volleyball BC Provincial Championship over the weekend.

The division one, tier one 17U FIRE team earned a silver medal after playing at the Olympic Oval in Richmond on April 21 and 22.

“Energy Volleyball Club is extremely proud of all the players, including our head coach Wayne Green and our assistant coach Charli Hoyer,” said Sylvia Green, a team representative.

Two athletes, Hanna Keller and Ella Green, also received All Star awards.

Other team members include Shelby Watts, Jada Bargery, Minerva McCarthy-Harley, Lily Sterner, Cassie Einarson, Morgan McLean, Jaya Desjarlais, Zoe Koblischke and Summer Walker.

Most of the competitive athletes at Energy Volleyball Club train all year round, playing club volleyball, beach volleyball and school volleyball.

“These girls definitely have a passion for their sport,” Sylvia explained.

The team will soon be heading to Calgary to compete at national championships from May 14 to 16.

Sylvia added: “Provincials VBC and Nationals VC are always a great opportunity to play some amazing teams from all over Canada.”
