It seemed like Norm Bradley was going to cruise down the stretch en route to his first BC Golf championship, but then everything came unraveled.

Up by five shots with two holes to play at the BC Senior Men’s Championship at Sunshine Coast Golf & Country Club, the Kelowna native looked to be in complete control.

However, a double bogey on 17 and a bogey on 18, combined with two birdies by Mike Mannion of Gibsons, completed a five-shot swing and forced a playoff between the two men.

The 62-year-old wasn't phased though, nailing a four-foot birdie putt on the first playoff hole to win the tournament.

“To win after losing a five-shot lead is fabulous. It’s thrilling, just awesome,” Bradley told BC Golf’s Brad Ziemer after the win.

“It has been a long journey and I have put in lots of time and lots of effort and to see it finally pay off, even though it took an extra hole, is a really good feeling right now.”

After securing the emotional victory, Bradly got a lengthy hug from his wife Sherry and congratulations from many of his playing competitors, including his good friend Doug Roxburgh.

Roxburgh is a five-time winner of the event and member of the Canadian Golf Hall of Fame.
