A trio of local weightlifters are heading to the Provincial Championship in Surrey this weekend.

Miklos Bencsik, Christine Col and Laurel Timmer will all represent Viking Weightlifting Club at the tournament.

All three are coached by Guy Greavette and are hoping to secure a spot in the Canadian Nationals, which take place in Montreal in May.

The 285 lbs Bencsik has best lifts of 325 lbs in the snatch lift and 440 lbs in the clean and jerk.

Col is 178 lbs and has best lifts of 196 lbs in the snatch and 212 lbs in the clean and jerk.

The smallest of the three, Timmer, is just 128 lbs with best lifts of 136 lbs in the snatch and 156 in the clean and jerk.

Good luck to all three weightlifters this weekend!
