The Kelowna Rockets were back in action this weekend for the first time in 20 days following a COVID-19 outbreak within the team.

On March 30, the team entered a 14-day isolation period after one of the players tested positive for the virus. Another seven players would contract the virus days later.

After the WHL announced that Kelowna would be cleared for team activities on April 14, all members of the team tested negative.

Trevor Wong must have been the most excited about returning to action as his four goals led the Rockets past the Prince George Cougars by a score of 7-5.

It all started in the first period as Wong put home the first goal of the game in just 23 seconds. That was followed by a Cougars goal before Andrew Cristall got Kelowna back out in front.

Kaeden Korczak and Wong scored short-handed goals to extend the Rockets' lead in the second period. The two teams would trade goals before the period ended.

Fresh off his hat-trick, Wong scored another goal to open the third frame. Prince George would claw their way back to within one late before Mark Liwiski restored the two-goal lead with an empty-netter.

The Rockets' special teams weren't amazing on the night as they went 0/5 on the power play and 4/6 on the penalty kill. Cole Schwebius picked up his second win of the season stopping 23 of 28 shots.

Up next, Kelowna takes on Victoria Monday at 7:05 pm at Prospera Place.
