The West Kelowna Warriors were right in it on Wednesday, until the third period that is.

Down 3-2 going into the final frame, the Salmon Arm Silverbacks scored a trio of goals to claim a 6-2 home victory.

The game was 1-0 through 20 minutes thanks to Silverback forward William Poirier’s 21st goal of the season.

A back-and-forth second period saw Nicolas Ardanaz tie it for the Warriors before Simon Tassy and Lucas Breault score to give Salmon Arm a 3-1 lead.

All of that happened before four minutes had elapsed in the period and Brendan Pigeon added to the frenzy just 4:37 into the middle frame, cutting the Silverbacks lead in half.

However, that’s as close as West Kelowna would come thanks to the three-goal third period, which included another pair from Tassy to complete his hat-trick.

The Warriors return to action on Saturday night when they travel to Vernon to face the Vipers at Kal Tire Place.
