The UBCO Heat men’s volleyball team has lots to celebrate after starting the season 6-2 and the recent signing of one of the top BC high school players.

Set to join the Heat next season is Kelowna Secondary School (KSS) standout Dominic Sodaro.

It is a big addition for the Heat as Dominic’s two older siblings currently play for UBCO’s regional rival, the Thompson Rivers WolfPack.

While he has chosen a different path than his brothers, Sodaro will be following in his father’s footsteps, who played for the Okanagan Lakers in the early '90s.

Sodaro is a 6’2” setter who has helped the KSS Owls win three consecutive provincial titles, earning MVP and all-star honours along the way.

The setter also plays for the Barn Owls Volleyball Club and has played for Team BC for the past two years.

The Heat will close out their first-semester schedule with a pair of games against the University of Calgary this weekend.
