Although they didn’t get the result they wanted, the West Kelowna Warriors had to be happy with how things went on Family Day.

Nearly 1,500 people packed into Royal LePage Place to watch the team take on the Trail Smoke Eaters.

Although it ended in a 5-2 loss, it was the biggest crowd of the season for the Warriors.

Holden Kodak got the crowd into it early, opening the scoring for West Kelowna just 2:39 into the game.

Matt Osadick would tie it up later on in the first period before Owen Ozar and Chase Dafoe extended the lead to 3-1 in the middle frame.

Brendan Pigeon got the Warriors back to within one in the third period, but Ozar’s second of the game restored the two goal lead before Jaden Senkoe sealed it with four minutes to play.

Fans also got a great glimpse at Kent Johnson on Monday, as the likely top-10 pick in the 2021 NHL entry draft got three assists to hit both 60 assists and 100 points on the season.

The Port Moody native will head to the University of Michigan to play hockey next season.
