Mike Hardman scored twice and Connor Hopkins stopped all 21 shots he faced as the West Kelowna Warriors defeated the Prince George Spruce Kings 4-0 in B.C. Hockey League play in Chilliwack.

In one of five games today in the annual Bauer BCHL Showcase, the Warriors also got a third goal of the season from rookie Mason Richey and another from sophomore Max Bulawka.

Hardman notched the lone tally of the first period while sandwiching a goal between Richey and Bulawka in the second.

The two teams played to a scoreless third period in which the Warriors fired 15 shots on Prince George goaltender Logan Neaton, who had taken over from starter Bradley Cooper in the second period. West Kelowna held the Spruce Kings to just one shot in the final 20 minutes.

In all, the Warriors, who went into the game having been limited to seven shots or fewer in their previous five periods, outshot Prince George 36-21 (9-12-15).

Now 2-3 on the season in the Interior Division, the Warriors are back in action on Friday at the Showcase in Chilliwack when they take on the Nanaimo Clippers beginning at 1 p.m.

The next home game for the Warriors is Wednesday when they play host to the Wenatchee Wild at Royal LePage Place (7 p.m.). They’ll be back at RLP in West Kelowna on Sept. 28, taking on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks (7 p.m.).
