It was about giving and taking for the West Kelowna Warriors on Sunday as they were taking on the Vernon Vipers on a very special night.

On Breast Cancer Awareness Night, the Warriors skated to a 4-3 overtime victory as well as a significant donation to the BC Cancer Foundation.

In the first period, Vernon got on the board first thanks to a goal from Will Arquiett. The Warriors would answer immediately with Matthew Stienburg notching another. That tie would be short-lived as Vernon would get two more before the period ended.

The second saw the Warriors push back once again. John Evans would tally his third of the season before Elan Bar Lev Wise scored to even the game.

A scoreless third period brought both teams into overtime. In the extra frame, Evans would get his second of the night, which would be the game-winner.

In addition to the win, the Warriors also raised $5,000 for the BC Cancer Foundation, thanks to Total Restoration matching $2,500 in donations. That number shattered their goal of $2,500 set earlier in the season.

The Warriors will now enjoy Halloween weekend before being back in action on Nov. 6 and Nov. 7 when they take on the Salmon Arm Silverbacks.
