Legendary 70s rock band, Chicago, conquered the Prospera Place Stage on Sunday night with an expansive performance that covered a vast majority of their musical history.
Known for great dedication to their music and fans, Chicago has toured every year since their inception — in other words, fans were in for a special night as these veterans know how to put on an incredible show.
Despite being hailed as classic rock royalty, following their induction into the Hall Of Fame, what truly makes Chicago unique is their fusion of the classic big band sound — spotlighting the sounds of the trumpet, trombone and saxophone.
Performing for a cozier audience, Chicago ran through a nearly thirty song setlist with ease, energy and immense prowess. With seamless transitions between songs, each hit melted together to create one flowing medley that had fans up and on their feet all evening.
Fans were able to hear classics like “Wake Up Sunshine,” “Where Do We Go From Here,” and blast off on a whirlwind journey through “25 Or 6 To 4,” as the group performed double album, Chicago II, in its entirety to celebrate its 40th anniversary.
Although Lee Loughnane and Robert Lamm, may have been the only two original members present, but each member of the nine-piece ensemble did the 40-year-old songs justice, breathing in new life and playing with vigorous passion.
Following a 20 minute intermission, the band returned to give their fans what they deemed as the “world’s longest encore” delivering a 14 song string of their greatest hits.
Bright colours, brighter smiles and incredible music entranced the arena as Chicago gifted fans with a performance to remember.
