National Rifle Association spokeswoman Dana Loesch once again took shots at Neil Young on Thursday.

The NRA spokeswomen has a surprisingly long history of disliking the Canadian icon.

In a series of Tweets, Loesch provided an in-depth look at why she is not a fan of the rock and roll legend.

The notable comment that he sings like a "dying cow fart" appears to be a favourite insult of the spokeswoman, who has tweeted "dying cow" remarks several times.

It's also the second time in three weeks Loesch has commented on not being a fan of the three time Grammy winner.

No stranger to political controversy, Young wasted no time firing back during an interview with Marlow Stern yesterday.

“Well, I’m glad I got under her skin” said Young.

Then, when confronted with the unique insult of comparing his voice to a “dying cow fart,” Young said, “Why doesn’t she just shoot me?”

As a resident of California, Young did clarify his joke. “You know, I hate to say that because I have kids and I really don’t want anybody to shoot me,” he says. “I’ve still got to bring up my kids, so don’t take that seriously!”

Young also reiterated that Loesch is entitled to her opinion.

“That’s the way it goes! That’s what happens,” he said. “You’re out there in the world and people can say whatever they want. It’s freedom. I appreciate that, and I think she should exercise it as much as she can.”

Keep on rocking in the free world, Neil!
