It's that time of year again when the streets need to be tidied before the summer months heat up the Okanagan. In light of the changing seasons, the City of Vernon crews and contract forces have started the spring sweeping and flushing program.

High-volume roads that generate excessive dust will be complete first, and the remaining residential areas will be completed as soon as the road edges are clear of snow.

The spring sweeping program will take approximately four to five weeks to complete, however; timing will be dependent on weather conditions.

Residents are encouraged to sweep sand from sidewalks onto the road prior to the mechanical sweepers entering their neighbourhoods.

Residents are also advised to keep an eye out for “Spring Sweeping in Progress” signs in their area and park off roadways when possible.
