It is a tragic ending to a missing person case out of Vernon as an elderly woman with dementia has been found dead.

According to police, it appears that Derenowski got her truck stuck in the snow on a road that is not used during the winter. It appears that she got out and attempted to walk to find help, but succumbed to the weather conditions.

The Merritt RCMP and BC Coroners service continue to investigate the incident but do not suspect any foul play.
