This officer and suspect driver are creating a history in Lumby.
On Friday, April 10th at about 2 p.m., an officer of North Okanagan Traffic Services was patrolling in Lumby when he noticed a prohibited driver operating his vehicle in a residential neighbourhood. The officer drove up and noticed that the man was drinking from a can of beer while in the driver’s seat. The suspect driver was so intoxicated that he didn’t even notice the marked police vehicle pulling up in front of him.

The driver turned out to be a 50-year-old Lumby man involved in an impaired driving case in late 2014—one that was investigated by the same police officer. Not only that, but the driver was operating the same vehicle, one that belongs to his roommate. The vehicle had been impounded before, and it was impounded again on Friday.
The police officer arrested the driver for impaired driving and driving while prohibited. RCMP say that man is expected to face charges of Impaired Driving, Driver with over 80 mg of Alcohol, Driving While Prohibited, and Possessing Open Liquor in a Motor Vehicle.
