A 63-year-old man from Lake Country is in custody after a drug bust at a tourist hot spot in the Okanagan.

The Kelowna RCMP Detachment’s Street Enforcement Unit (SEU) and Police Dog Services Section joined forces with the Lake Country RCMP to search a motel room at the Airport Inn in Lake Country.

During a search of the motel room, they found about 5.5 ounces of suspected cocaine, one ounce of hash and $4,000 in cash.

A 63-year-old Lake Country man was arrested, inside the motel room and faces potential drug-related charges and is expected to appear in court.

A 25-year-old West Kelowna man was seen leaving the target motel room and was also arrested when found in possession of illicit drugs suspected to be cocaine. He also faces potential drug related charges and will be given a court date.

Cpl. Jesse O’Donaghey said their partners in the investigation were crucial to the successful outcome.

“The Lake Country RCMP wish to extend their thanks to the owners and staff of the Airport Inn for their continued assistance with police matters involving their establishment,” he said, in a statement.
