SilverStar Mountain Resort received an unseasonable 30cm of snow in June, delaying construction of the resort’s brand new gondola.

Originally scheduled to open on Saturday, July 7, SilverStar's new gondola will now begin operations one week later, on Saturday, July 14, 2018.

"Our recent 30cm snowfall followed by rain pushed our construction back about a week behind schedule," says Brad Baker, Operations Director.

"To ensure a safe and timely completion, we have decided to delay the grand opening festivities."

Mountain bikers need not to worry though, as the resort’s bike park is still scheduled to open this Saturday, June 23.

Construction on the new gondola originally began in May when crews installed 11 new towers for the gondola that will soon replace the mountain’s iconic green Summit Chair.

The flashy new gondola can carry up to eight passengers per cabin, plus skis and snowboards, to the top of SilverStar in under five minutes.
